Police Chief - City of Rowlett, TX

Nestled along the eastern and northern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard and home to an estimated 73,200 residents, the City of Rowlett is On the Water and On the Move.  Split between Dallas and Rockwall counties and stretched across 20.8 square miles, the community is among the fastest growing in the country — and it’s no wonder.

Reporting directly to the City Manager, the successful candidate for this position will plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the Rowlett Police Department, proactively engaging with staff, the community, and neighboring law enforcement agencies to provide world-class public safety.  The City of Rowlett is seeking a skilled and visionary servant leader ready to build upon the Police Department’s successful past and guide it into a bright future.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience. Graduation from a command leadership program such as the FBI National Academy, PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College, or a similar program is strongly preferred.

Candidates must also have a valid Class C driver’s license and be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement — or have earned similar certification from another state with the ability to obtain TCOLE certification within six months of their hire.

The City of Rowlett is offering a starting salary of $154,921 to $185,905 for this position based on experience and qualifications.
