The City of Seaside is a vibrant, proudly diverse, safe, and welcoming community located 115 miles south of San Francisco in Monterey County overlooking Monterey Bay. The Seaside Police Department (SPD) serves a population of 33,956 within the community’s 10 square miles.  The Police Chief is supported by a Deputy Chief and two Commanders who report to the Deputy Chief. The Department’s two divisions - Field Operations and Support Services - are each led by a Commander. SPD operates with a FY2021-22 budget of $15.9 million and the dedication of 51 full-time employees. 

Seaside is seeking a professional who is committed to unbiased and equitable policing and has a passion for working in partnership with the community. Exceptional coaching and mentoring abilities along with excellent communication skills are essential.

Competitive candidates will have a minimum of two years supervisory experience equivalent to a Police Sergeant and the equivalence of graduation from an accredited four-year institution.
