Police Captain – City of Richardson, Texas Richardson, Texas, is a thriving, economically stable suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the most dynamic and robust regions in the country. Richardson has a population of 119,469 residents and encompasses 28.5 square miles within Dallas and Collin counties. In addition to easy access to major highways and airports, four Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) light rail stations within the City provide convenient connections to surrounding communities. The Richardson Police Captain position is a demanding and rewarding professional opportunity with outstanding growth potential. The successful candidate will have a background with diverse exposure to all aspects of municipal law enforcement management and the successful building of partnerships with the community and other law enforcement agencies. The selected candidate must be adaptive toward procedures and must be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems and identify alternative solutions as necessary. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, police science, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Candidates must have 8-10 years of increasingly responsible law enforcement experience, with supervisory and administrative experience at the minimum level of Lieutenant. Command-level experience with a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency (or related field) of 100 or more employees is required. A track record of continuing involvement in professional development is expected. The successful candidate must have a TCOLE Advanced certification (or ability to obtain) and possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License (or ability to obtain) with a clear record. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern police administration and methodology is required. The annual salary range for this position is $128,964 - $139,476 depending on qualifications and experience.
