Writer/Editor

Police Executive Research Forum

The Police Executive Research Forum is seeking to fill two writing/editing positions.

PERF produces reports on critical issues in policing, which are designed to help law enforcement agencies improve their systems and operations. In the last few years, for example, topics of PERF reports included the following:

  • The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on policing;
  • The role of police on the front lines of the opioid crisis;
  • Police outreach to immigrant and refugee populations;
  • The police role in combating human trafficking;
  • Finding common ground between police executives and prosecutors;
  • The role of police in assisting victims of mass violence;
  • Police officer health and wellness programs.

Nearly all PERF reports are available to the public at www.policeforum.org/free-online-documents.

Additional information is online at www.policeforum.org.

PERF generally strives for a writing style similar to journalism – presenting information clearly and succinctly, with a minimum of jargon, in formats that readers can digest quickly.  Many PERF reports receive coverage in the news media.
