2025 Town Hall Meeting in collaboration with IACP
Sunday, October 19, 2025, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM MDT
Category: Events

We are looking forward to our upcoming Town Hall Meeting at the IACP Conference and Exposition in Denver. Below is information about the Town Hall—as well as the other events we have planned.

Sunday, October 19, 1:00–5:00 p.m.

Colorado Convention Center—Bluebird Ballroom on the Terrace Level

At this lively, four-hour, unscripted open forum, we will tackle the most pressing issues facing the policing profession today. The discussion is active and engaging, and at times audience members can be passionate with their comments. You are encouraged to participate and share your insights. Topics we plan to address include the following:

  • Immigration. How are federal immigration enforcement efforts affecting local law enforcement?
  • National Guard. The National Guard is being deployed to address local crime concerns in Washington, D.C., and other cities.
  • Drones. Police are using drones in innovative ways and have some concerns about drone attacks. We will also share preliminary findings from an ongoing PERF project on drones.
  • Debate on the reliability of the Force Science Institute’s findings. A recent Police Quarterly study questioned the reliability of the Force Science Institute’s (FSI) findings. We will hear from the study’s authors, who wrote, “Contrary to FSI’s assertions, our findings show its published materials fail to meet the scientific rigor demanded by the Daubert standard, which governs the admissibility of scientific evidence in U.S. courts.” In response, an FSI representative wrote, “While the article presents itself as a scientific critique, it includes errors that warrant correction.” An FSI representative will share the organization’s concerns.
  • World Cup. How are 2026 World Cup host cities preparing for the event?
  • Opioid overdose deaths. Recent PERF reports cover opioid overdose deaths, traffic enforcement (forthcoming), and mass demonstrations (forthcoming).
  • Attacks on political leaders. In light of recent political violence, agencies are taking steps to protect politicians and other prominent individuals.
  • Federal officials. We will hear updates from federal officials.
  • Open discussion. What’s on your minds?

Individuals registered for the IACP Conference will be able to access the Bluebird Ballroom on the Terrace Level of the Colorado Convention Center with their IACP credential. If you are not planning to register for the full IACP conference but want to attend the PERF Town Hall, please contact Sydney Eischens at [email protected] or 202-454-8322 for information.
