The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking a highly qualified individual to join our leadership team in the capacity Chief of Police

LAUSD is seeking an accomplished professional with extensive experience and an outstanding career in law enforcement and public safety, plus a strong commitment to honesty and integrity, to lead the nation’s largest school police department , the Los Angeles School Police Department. 

The Chief of Police must be an action-oriented leader who can successfully address and manage a variety of traditional public safety issues with an emphasize on K-12 education environment safety.  The Chief will have successful experience in administration, risk management and personnel issues as well as law enforcement, ideally in an educational environment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment of leading and managing a large and geographically diverse law enforcement department. She or he must have a demonstrated ability to motivate a talented team of law enforcement professionals, both sworn and non-sworn.

He/she will be able to work effectively within the Los Angeles Unified School District community to develop and build consensus, resolve conflicts, and will have a record of advising senior management in their decision-making processes.
