Madeline Sloan


Madeline Sloan joined PERF as a Senior Research Assistant in June 2017.  Prior to joining PERF, Madeline served as a Police Officer and Crime Prevention Specialist for the College of Charleston Department of Public Safety in Charleston, South Carolina. During her tenure in South Carolina, Madeline worked closely with the Charleston Police Fund’s Illumination Project, an initiative to further strengthen the relationships between citizens and police by respecting the importance of public safety and individual rights. She collaborated with department leadership to conduct a thorough assessment of the Charleston Police Department’s policies and practices and facilitated public listening sessions.  Madeline has presented research at the American Society for Public Administration Conference, the Southeastern Conference for Public Administration, and has a publication in the Virginia Social Sciences Journal. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the College of Charleston and a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from York College of Pennsylvania.
