Kristen Hughes joined PERF in November 2012 and brings over 15 years experience in program evaluation, survey methodology, and statistics in the criminal justice, homeland security, and forensic sciences fields. She is currently the program manager for the National Gun Violence Research Center and the COPS Critical Response Technical Assistance. She spent 6 years at the Institute for Law and Justice evaluating exercises, training, and programs for the Department of Homeland Security, Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. Prior to that, she worked at the Bureau of Justice Statistics managing data collections in forensics, law enforcement, and criminal justice expenditures and employment statistics. She began her career at the U.S. Census Bureau’s, Center for Survey Methods Research conducting survey research on the National Crime Victimization Survey. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Master of Public Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
